Nope. Probably was at some point, his old freestyles were epic (real off the dome freestyles) but that shit was pre-written and if you still want to claim he's the best pre-written 'freestyle' rapper then your even more wrong.

Very clever and verbally dextrous but apart from the freestyles with Proof I'm not keen on the syllable structure he uses.

I prefer this sort of stuff, granted its in a battle rather than no target freestyle

Music is too subjective to have any sort of debate on it. Eminem is probably one of the best rappers you'll hear on the radio that some of the more underground listeners can tolerate at the bare minimum.
 
Not by a long shot. He's good, creative and has an obvious love for the art form, but he would be the first one to say that he isn't the best.

Best on the Billboard top 20/50? Probably. Best salesman and self-promoter? Again probably.

He is not however, the best rapper.
 
Em is top 5 for sure. But I still gotta say B.I.G. is #1 with only 2 albums, nobody brought stories to life like him. But Eminem is one of the best story-tellers doing it, definitely top 5. DETROIT STAND UP!!!!
 
Tupac is still the top selling of all time, with Eminem slowly catching up to him. He only had 5 years as a star and 75 million records sold, compared to Eminem's 60+.

Depends..that's a general statement. Do you mean freestyle, tone, lyrics...? Eminem is very well rounded and especially excels as a lyricist. I personally prefer a few others for tone and overall sound; he's bomb though.

Freestyle thread... without Big L? I know '93 Freestyle isn't truly off the dome, but he was killing it way back then.
