Facebook CPC Data Collection

Another interesting observation today. My account says suggested bids 3.16 - 5.40 USD ATM. So I went and setup a VPS and remoted into it. So blank machine, no cookies, history, etc. Setup same ad parameters and suggested is 2.06-3.12.

This tells me that there may be very good reasons for started over with an account. Absolutely none of you had bids higher than this "default" suggested amount.

Time to go make a new account for CPC stuff. :-)

Went to my old personal account. Both under the same facebook ID. One for business stuff (CPM) the other for Personal stuff. Ran same ad setup and got a suggested bid of Suggested Bid: 1.83 - 3.12 USD. I think I will make some ads in both accounts, set same bids, etc. Run at the same time and post the results here for anyone else that cares.

They have all sorts of account quality metrics that change a ton of things. Everything from review times - retroactive review amounts to CPM rates.

This kind of stuff really shouldn't be discussed publicly - make friends and talk in private about this kind of stuff. Facebook people have been on this forum from the beginning and still read it even if they never post like they did at first. It amazes me the kind of stuff people post here.

Also suggested bid price is only what it costs from the start for them to give your ad some test impressions. Once the ad gets some impressions and the system gets an idea of CTR your account CTR history doesn't have anything to do with the price you pay, other account history factors do though. So just because the account has bad CTR history that's not a bad thing always.

While I do agree with everything you said, the point of my post was to try and determine if CPM CTR history played a substantial role in starting bid prices and based on what I have seen from others I would say it does.

Based on the suggested bids I saw, its clear that we have players on very different levels here.

The only problem I do have with this thinking is that people become afraid to share anything of value and are more interested in just misdirection and self preservation.

I hope this helps others as well as myself.

@Miketpowell - point heard loud and clear.
