Facebook ads are a hassle to deal with for affiliates...which is probably exactly how Facebook wants it.

There must be a $$$ based reason for not wanting affiliates.

In fact I once sat in a meeting with a Facebook Ads guy in around 2009-2010 (he was trying to sell the idea of advertising on facebook to the advertising agency i was at) and his words were "We have loads of affiliates in the US and we dont want to give them the power editor, because they just upload incredible amounts of shit".

Good to those who are grandfathered in. What's the reason?

"To ensure a positive experience for everyone on Facebook, ads for dating sites and apps are only allowed from approved advertisers through a direct sales partnership. We hope this change will help encourage greater accountability and maintain the quality of dating-related advertising on Facebook."

Best reason is probably so the guys on facebook can push their personal ads to find a taker or two amongst the millions that would say no, you know what they say, "If she's one in a million, there's 40 of her in California".

Or big brand monies from overspenders like Match.com

Facebook isn't allowing in affiliates after Valentine's Day. It's just accepting more brand advertisers.

I remember reading they were going to allow whitelisted affiliates with the offer owner's permission. Guess we will have to wait and see?

"Starting now the only people allowed to promote Dating ads on Facebook are white listed advertisers and the affiliates that the advertisers have approved. For example: Match.com gets approved to advertise. They want their top 3 affiliates Bob, Steve, and Sharkeisha to promote on Facebook. Match.com will submit their Facebook account ID’s to get whitelisted."

They are having enough problems with the current whitelisting system that I'd say the idea of approved affiliates being allowed in is still awhile off.

It's true though that the idea eventually is to get to a place where brands can "vouch" for affiliates who will have their accounts whitelisted. I am not sure how many companies will do that though.

Post is from December and I still see tons of cloaked adult offers running on FB.

One of the reasons people cloak is to avoid being recognized as dating affiliate. These fake sites go as far as full blown ecommerce websites that allow them to get away with sexy ads, still.

Even some clean dating affiliates are cloaking these days to avoid the banner hammer.

Only issue I am seeing with this is the whitelisting from the bigger Advertisers, but I am pretty sure new offers that don't care about FB policies will be popping up soon enough.

I spoke with Facebook today as we're launching campaigns for our own in-house dating app and here's what I was told:

1) This page has been updated yesterday: https://www.facebook.com/help/143949649021372

2) Once your ads are disapproved, you can fill out the disapproved ads report with your information to become an approved advertiser

Note that I asked about affiliates being permitted to advertise and there was no clear information for this. So... give it a shot, and best of luck.
