Correction, Iced Earth with Matthew Barlow is the greatest band ever. Unfortunately I didn't see them live until after he left!!

Good to see the DVD is out, I'll have to pick it up. Jon Schaffer was bitching on their site he didn't want it released, thought it wasn't high enough quality.. but the Alive in Athens CD was probably one of their best

Dude! Maybe in Europe, but everyone knows that Slipknot is the greatest band in the Universe!

But there is no one that can play a guitar like malmsteen, Malmsteen is the greatest guitarist of all time, and for some reason he was never really given the recognition that he deserves .... Malmsteen's finger play just cant be matched.

Its good to see that no rap or country music has been thrown in the mix yet.

BTW Andrew that Mullet comment was to much, I almost pissed my fucking pants......

I love Malmsteen, but his last few albums are so stuck on repeat (playing style wise) it's extremely disappointing. Plus the songs, ugh they just aren't there any more. Plus, he's forgotten how to throw a little feel and down time into his playing. It's all 2000 miles an hour or nothing. That's not the Malmsteen I love! I liked everything up through Alchemy.

Check out Symphony X (-=Symphony X-Official Website=-) if you want to see a player that rivals if not exceeds Malmsteen. Michael Romeo has it all when it comes to playing! Get their album The Odyssey and work your way back from there. You can see some of his (old) playing clips from about 10 years ago on YouTube: YouTube - Michael Romeo All Songs from the DVD - remember this about 10 years ago and only contains stuff from Symphony X's first couple albums. He's gotten even better!

Fellas I am glad to see some glimpse of Metal knowledge here! You should hit my forum (the ultimatemetal in my sig) if you want to discover a ton of great bands that are off the mainstream path. Evergrey, Symphony X, Into Eternity, Cellador, tons of great stuff.

If you want to hear some great Metal, tune in places like this for a good array of old/new (not Nu, but newer METAL).

Actually I didn't realize SymX had so many tracks online from the last album. Here's a good varied sampling of their different styles:

-=Symphony X-Official Website=- - listen to them all, a nice wide variety from their new to older albums (actually they have a new one due in a few months).

i wonder if iced earth has any understanding of the egyptian symbols on their stage. i can't stand it when metal bands throw out all these occult symbols around just because they think its cool or "dark".

jimmy page of led zep is a real occultist. he even ran an occult bookshop for a while - little known fact. bowie is in the know as well.
