Film Review: Bullhead

Saw this movie, Bullhead, from Belgium last night and it was pretty interesting. It's a thriller about a cattle farmer who's dealing in illegal hormones with the Mafia and then a girl from his past creeps back into his life...and...actually it's a very convoluted story. But well worth the rental if you like subtitles, or don't mind them. Like I said, it's a thriller, but also a tragic character study with some excellent acting by the lead actor.

Rating: 8/10.

Btw, when did Hollywood stop having anything to tell? Since getting Netflix I've seen so many more excellent films from other countries than the US. With the sheer magnitude that Hollywood puts out, how can there be so few productions that actually have something to say.

^ here in Seattle there's a international film festival and the local theaters play movies from all over the world for a couple months and some are really good. I liked this Argentinian one The Secret in Their Eyes (2009) - IMDb

I hope netflix will have success with their series, screw TV.

Depressing movie man, but good.

Yeah, I should've mentioned that. It's not quite as depressing as say Requiem For A Dream, but you do have to be in the mood to see something like this.

Hollywood has gone full retard. They've completely stopped making the mid-budget movies (Scent Of A Woman, Dead Poet's Society, etc) and even the smaller arms have shut down so there's not much happening on the Indy scene either. All for the mighty buck.

And that sucks because Hollywood from the mid 60s to late 70s was a totally different beast. Much, much better films back then in almost every genre. Scorsese, Pacino, Nicholson etc, when they were young and gave a damn.

Saw the movie and it was really good. 8 on 10 is the perfect rating
