Hey everyone,

Have got a question on landing pages, I am horribly new to AM, and kindly ask your help/advice on this.

I have set up and run a couple of direct linking campaigns, (through A4D // LeadImpact), but want to try having a landing page to help the conversions (right now there is nothing).

I have just figured out installing WP on my domain, (BTW I have 0 HTML experience), and not sure where to go from here.

1. Is it ok to host landing pages on the same domain as my Prosper202 account, or should I get a second one to keep these separate?

2. Is there any (free) themes that can make landing pages easier? I have tried a number of themes but they all end up looking like blogs

3. I don't really want an ebook, but have read a ton of the WF posts on landing pages and they are either high level (simple), or way too detailed for my level. Does anyone know of a step-by-step guide to setting up your first LP? Even nickycakes' newbie guide goes into benefits of LP's, but says its better for designers to build for you.

I'd like to learn this and build a few my own before I outsource to someone more skilled (i.e., so I know what it actually takes to build one), but cant seem to find any info that can help.

Appreciate any advice you all can give,

Cheers

you can learn enough html to be productive in a weekend, so do that. Then start looking at other people's landing pages and see how they are doing what they're doing and try and emulate it yourself. Learn as you go.

Thanks dchuk, is it better to work in HTML, or is photoshop better for simple landing pages?

(although I think my weekend is going to be devoted to learning one or the other, my photoshop experience is as good as my HTML! haha)

In regards to your last question, don't try to go too custom & worry about Photoshop. Stick with learning how to edit themes (in which HTML comes in handy). I haven't used a landing page theme in very long so I don't know, but I'm sure a few good Google searches will yield desirable themes.

You can host them on the same one, but most people keep them separate.

Looking like a blog can be a good thing. However, here's one that doesn't look like a blog from a fellow member:

1. Learn HTML: HTML Tutorial
2. Find a good landing page and modify it: Bloghue's Email Landing Page Giveaway!
3. Apply these conversion optimization tips to it: Split-testing 101 | Conversion Rate Experts
4. Test two different versions constantly, always trying to create a better one than the last
