That looks cool. I'm sure someone will find this helpful.

Especially for folks who are confused about how to file in their state.

Customers will still need to pay the necessary state filing, publication and shipping fees, but our normal $149 processing fee will be waived.

* Must use coupon MYGIFT to obtain free incorporation or free llc formation discount. Discount valid for orders placed for a new corporation or limited liability company (LLC) December 1-5, 2008 only. Prices subject to change without notice. Limit one discount or coupon per order. Coupon is not valid on any other product or service. You must enter/mention the coupon code at the time your order is placed. Coupon or discount is not valid on previous orders. Refunds/credits/adjustments will not be issued on prior orders.

Nice find! Think I'll share this with a few entrepreneurial type folks I know from school.

Who's incorporated on their own? I've really thought about doing this, mostly to separate my personal and affiliate finances. I'm concerned that I might need an attorney or something.

You all use an LLC?

Thanks for any info.

Good question. Would an LLC or S-Corp be best for tax purposes for an affiliate marketer with 6 figure revenues?

That's a question for your accountant. I am set up as an S-Corp as that's what my acct recommended. Also make sure you discuss what you are going to classify your business as when you set up. It will effect your write offs and taxes.

Heh, guess I'll have to get an accountant then. Great timing to set up a corporation, to start the new year off with a corporate structure.

Good thing I used the search function. I was just about to post the same damn thing.

Anyway, what an amazing deal. Apparently the company will upsell you, yadayada, but its only optional. Who the hell cares though, this could not have been made available at a better time at least in my case.

Here's the actual link to the company providing the service -> Free Incorporation, Free LLC Formation Services :: MyCorporation

Seems like a great way to save some cash if you had planned to found a company. I just want to know if it would be wise to get in on this even if you have no intentions of starting a company any time soon or you are not making enough from AM to take advantage of the tax breaks.

Basically are there any disadvantages to founding an company if I don't take advantage of it right away? Annual fees? Extra taxes?

I have an online account directly with my state's Secretary of State's office. I do my own and have them up and running in 10 minutes.

How about all of the business maintenance (ie, paperwork, filings), do you do that yourself or do you have lawyers/CPAs, do that for you?

Unless you have some very intricate financial transactions that requires some specialized and creative reporting, a CPA is a ripoff. I do my own Federal and State filing each year. Once you get the hang of it, it's only mildly painful.

Interestingly enough, in their affiliate email, they reported that the last time they did this (back in November) the average order size of the free package was $129 - I guess they're good at selling additions.

From the LifeHacker article:
"Note also that state filing fees do apply even if you take advantage of this offer, so it's not completely free."

Yeah, exactly. Some states charge as much as $700-$800 to register/file.

The $129 average order fee they're referring to is fees to them, not fees associated with the state. I looked at MyCorporation when I formed my LLC, and it seems like they upsell a lot of products.
