I have a site that for over a year sat nicely at 2nd or 3rd place in the serps for its main keyword. Didn't do anything funny/blackhat etc. with it, just nice regular content to keep Google coming back and like a week ago BAM totally vanished from the serps. Thought it might just be some flux, but nope 7 days later and its still nowhere to be seen. All its links seem to be intact, nfi what happened.

Figured this was a good place to rant, so here's a big FU to Google! :action-smiley-052:

edit: It's not de-indexed, not sent to supplemental pages, just vanished from serps.

Don't do anything stupid trying to get your rankings back. They will come back if you just wait it out... might take up to a month. This happens all the time with one of my big sites and I have yet to figure out why. Kinda frustrating, but until I figure out why, I gotta live with it.

A month eh? Since it has already been a week I figured I was screwed.

I'm used to seeing fluctuation on some of my other sites but usually its all over and back ranking in a couple of days. This particular site hasn't been lower than 3rd at all in like 12 months, so it was pretty surprising to see it vanish.

FUCK YOU GOOGLES! THEY DO NOTHING!

With that said, I like "google proofing" my website by building an optin list :)

Fuck google and block them. I had found serenity once I stopped giving a fuck about google.

find what the problem was, and apply for reinclusion in google webmaster tools stating you fixed the problem. it can take over a month.

I was fucking hacked. Son of a cunt.

They placed shit like:

<!-- ~ --><u style="display:none"><a href="http://ken-jennings.com/blog/?p=5414">overnight valium delivery online</a> <a href="http://ken-jennings.com/blog/?p=71891">phentermine and cymbalta</a> <a href="http://ken-jennings.com/blog/?p=81854">flomax and ambien</a>

Whoa. That blog is like the all time best player at Jeopardys blog. It seems it was taken over too. If you go to his normal pages you can see his blog with the normal Wordpress permalinks. If you go too high you get pharma ads.

Hardcore Blackhat city.

I'm not a hater on the black hat tactics. Shit, just a few years ago I'd probably have been doing this myself stuff like this was around. I was too concerned with buffer overflows and smashing the stack -- how unprofitable.

So, FYI, If anyone has this problem, and would like help cleaning it up, please let me know. I'll do it for free. A link might be nice though.

I wasn't hacked, don't really use php on the site for anything other than include statements.

Going through the site, I found some noob SEO-type mistakes. Was one of my first sites when I was trying to teach myself seo related stuff and I've never been back to modify the template that I use.

For example, I found that the h1 and h2 tags are the same across every page on the site. ie. h1 = "blah blah" and h2 = "lorem ipsum" on every page on the site. I'm wondering if Google implemented some sort of new filter that it triggered.
