Fuckin' hackers shit on my tracking server again

Have you ever tried to rebuild a 250gb hard drive that is 90% full ???

Hey don't shit on the netbook. It's great for surfing and got me out of a bind quick. I just picked up another HP netbook that has more oomph than my main laptop and it's more portable. The only thing I loose is the CD/DVD - but you can buy an external for under $100.

...next someone will say that the iPod won't last. Jeez...

Only 250GB? You know you can get a 320GB external for under 80$ now days, if that... a netbook cost what, 350ish? And most are limited on the hdd space.

Either way you will still need to get your important files from your original hard drive so your not saving time in that aspect. Reinstalling Windows + installing drivers and applications has never taken me over 4 hours. It takes me two hours to do this these days (and personalize) due to me having a folder with all my required drivers/software packages to run when the install is complete.

Your method isn't wrong as clearly your happy with this and it does get the job done. I'm re-iterating buying a new PC because you didn't want to format is retarded.

...it was an older laptop but newer HD. OK, ok, ok. I admit, I was a little lazy and probably could have done it the long way...

switch to Linux, switch to Opera, use AVG, use Comodo Pro's firewall. Also use secure FTP. A thing I do here with all of my business stuff that is important such as bank accounts, affiliate network logins, ftp logins, etc I change my passwords at the end of each week to something different. It takes a little extra time but overall a lot less time than getting thousands stolen or your accounts hacked.

Opera... really? That's the company that keeps trying to hit M$ in Europe because they figure the only way they'll ever get any market share is if the EU forced M$ to include them in future Windows distributions.

Opera is supposed to be "better", more standards compliant, etc... It's for the busy-bodies who don't use anything that comes pre-installed. :)

Also the netbook guy obviously isn't capable of re-installing an OS; that's like telling someone who says "my car won't turn on, I've checked the tire pressure and everything" to rebuild their engine. You're going to pay a tech 85-105/hour for 3-5 hours of work on an old computer installing a fresh copy of XP that is going to have a virus again in about 5 minutes. If this guy's time is worth anything to him, spending the 300 and having a netbook to get back to work on immediately (and don't forget he can still fix the old machine in the future) was probably just as good a choice.

Switching to Linux, doing things in a secure manner, etc. is beyond most users. :D
