That DHMO site is awesome!

"Many of course do not think carefully about what they read, and so in March 2004, the California municipality of Alisa Viejo very nearly passed a law banning foam containers at city-sponsored events because they contained DHMO. "

Illegal drugs is ridiculous for a couple reasons:

1. It's our right to be as stupid as we please. Eating, smoking, drinking whatever we like is no one's business... allowing government to legislate this crap is a horrible idea and a blight on freedom.

2. Making drugs illegal is good for criminals. Without prohibition the mafia would have never become the billion-dollar empire it became. Without the drug war Pablo Escobar would never have become one of the worlds richest men. Illegal drugs create huge revenue streams for the violent and dangerous people of the world.

3. Lastly, it is just one of many BILLION-DOLLAR blackholes our government has created. It's estimated that 40 Bil went to the drug war last year and that drugs are still just as easy to obtain as when the drug war started. 40 billion here, 40 billion there... pretty soon you are talking about real money.

so I'm in Amsterdam last weekend, and interesting fact is that only about 6% of the Dutch smoke weed, compared to like 9% in the UK and like 8% in the States, (or something like that, I forget the exact numbers now.)

here we go with the overdosing:

Animal tests have revealed that extremely high doses of cannabinoids are needed to have lethal effect. This has led scientists to conclude that the ratio of the amount of cannabinoids necessary to get a person intoxicated (i.e., stoned) relative to the amount necessary to kill them is 1 to 40,000. In other words, to overdose, you would have to consume 40,000 times as much marijuana as you needed to get stoned. In contrast, the ratio for alcohol varies between 1 to 4 and 1 to 10. It is easy to see how upwards of 5000 people die from alcohol overdoses every year and no one EVER dies of marijuana overdoses.

Neeldess to say, overdosing with weed is a myth.

Funny thing is if you are 20 and get poped for less than an OZ you get a fine...120$ I think? But if you get caught drinking under 21 you get 6 months probation and some fines and a shit load of shit classes

"a lot of shit the gov't does is more for propaganda issues and voter support than anything else..."

Government acts in it's own self-interest. It will continue to grow until it invades every aspect of our lives.

Only a massive uprising of disgust, dissatisfaction, and non-compliance will cause government to reduce it's size. And only then due to self-preservation.

Up until the last 50 years, the average American only paid about $200 to the FedGov each year in taxes (and that's adjusted to today's dollars). IMO $200 is about all they are worth. But with a price tag of around $20,000 per citizen now... I think it's obviously out of control.

its not illegal for all of us Jon :rasta: Yey for prop 215

I guess you've never heard of Raich ( the invidual and court case)?

Or Steve Kubby, Ed Rosenthal ( prosecuted and judge ruled that California state law could not even be raised in the defense), or any of the numerous Cancer patients or other sick people who have been arrested and jailed for using marijuana in CA?

Sure you can think Prop 215 means anything, but it doesnt to the Feds. Since all the courts have ruled that federal law trumps the state law on this issue- it seems necessary to legalize on a federal level- even for the hippies in California.
