godaddy thru CJ is tryin to fuck their affiliates

I put a godaddy link from cj on my site. One aspect of their campaign is that they pay $65 or $105 on their 12 month hosting plans only. They do not pay out on their 3 month program.

If you go to godaddy.com hosting page directly, not thru an affiliate link, they advertise the 3 month plan for $5.99 a month and the 12 month plan for $4.99 month. Here they are pushing they 12 month plan by offering at 4.99.

However, If you click their affiliate link, the landing page that comes up advertises the 3 month plan for $1.99 a month. They even put a bright yellow banner with bold red font advertising such. Hmmmm, but we affiliates do not get paid if the customer buys the 3 month plan. So why is godaddy pushing the 3 month plan at 1.99 a month thru affiliate links, knowing full well that the affiliate is not going to get paid for the 3 month plan? But on the regular host of there site they are enticing customers to buy the 12 month plan. So basically they are using the affiliate to get the customer to their site and then pushing the 3 month plan so they get a new customer without having to pay out the $65 commission. What kind of stunt is this they are trying to pull?

Commission Junction and Go Daddy combined in the same deal. What exactly did you expect to happen?

forward this to cj... they will fight your corner prolly, because cj take around 5-10% comission as well, so they will want to get paid too.

Btw... shame on you promoting a peace of shit host.

As a Wild West/GoDaddy reseller, I can assure you there is no fucking limit to how hard GoDaddy will fuck over people who are spending resources to promote their own services. In the last year or so it's gotten incredibly bad, eg. with the customer service phone number and backend for which I pay hundreds of dollars a year to be linked into now saying "GoDaddy" on it and cs calls being routed to GoDaddy (ie. I've spent nearly ten years paying for a white label operation, but now all I get is the front end) and service reps telling my customers not to use my service (in all fairness that fucking flub got me a written apology and my customer some free shit, but wtf? You get paid to provide my customer service, then get on the phone with one of my customers and tell them to use somebody else?) Tracking issues, reseller support run by fucking morons, etc. etc. etc. It's just a joke at this point; if I didn't have so many domains registered in the reseller account I'd drop it. As is I make a profit of sorts in terms of the discount I get on registrations, but dealing with GoDaddy's reseller support [sic] is just ridiculous.

Replace "5-10%" with "20-30%", and you're correct.
 
It sounds fucked up. The good news is that you have hosting traffic and there are a ton of other hosting offers you can promote.

I suspect CJ couldn't give less of a shit. I expect they're picking up all the commissions on the 3 month plans and leaving a portion of the 12 month plans for the affiliates.
 
Here is the reply I got back from CJ. The moron obviously didn't even read my email properly because all he did is reiterate to me godaddy's commission structure for which I'm well aware of. I emailed CJ back and will wait to see if the GET IT this time. I'm not going to put godaddy on my site no more. I've gotta a better hosting company to promote. It pays more and when u get to their hosting landing page. Every plan on their page is one that you will get big commission on.

Thank you for your inquiry. According to the advertiser's program terms, 3 month hosting plans are not listed as a non-commissionable item or as a $0 commission. It simply isn't listed as a higher or specific commission rate. In that case, you would receive the default: a 20% commission. GoDaddy appears to simply want to award a higher commission rate for the longer term program, since they have a longer term customer.

CJ charges the advertiser 20%-30% of the affiliate commission on top of every transaction (the commission, not the sale amount), depending on the volume the advertiser is doing.

That's simply my mistake. A reaction lapse in the price difference was overridden by whether the plan even generates a commission. I'm going to push this along to advertiser support who will work out a solution.
