Anyone here use gogrid? Maybe I am misunderstanding what gogrid does, but is this not for simple web hosting? Is this more for system admins?

I don't know shit about cloud hosting (or most hosting) and just thought the structure/billing was pretty cool, how you only pay for RAM used. What I am asking is, could I sign up and deploy 5 servers to host 5 different sites?

Also, GGSB is the $100 coupon code, as they only offer $50 free on the homepage.

Thank you.

I just transitioned to GoGrid from ThePlanet. Really like it so far.

Concerning your 5 servers/5 sites question, God no! Each instance you run is a virtual server and unless you have some serious CPU requirements a single site per server is uber overkill. If you provision 5 servers you'll burn through the 100 dollar credit in less than a week. If you provision a single virtual server with 512 mb ram you can run your 5 sites no problem and the credit will last you about 40 days.

Unless you want to manage all aspects of your hosting environment (and it doesnt sound like you want to or need to yet) I would suggest a shared host for now. Just my 2 cents.

Cloud hosting with GoGrid/Amazon/etc can get really expensive if you keep the servers live 24/7. It's not really for the general user. You'd probably be better off with a small VPS or shared hosting.

It's not any more expensive than a normal dedicated server, depending on your needs.

I've tested out about $0.50 of my original $50 credit - all good experience so far. I should probably test out more before I form an opinion, though... heh.
