I'm looking to get myself something. I think I'll spend 1-2k on a nice gold chain.

I found some stuff on Amazon, where the chain's are marked up 40% on white gold, and 50% on yellow, compared with the price of bullion (this is factoring in the karats, so a 14 karat chain is only 58.3333333% gold)

Do any of you guys know where to find better value in terms of bullion price/amount of gold in the piece of jewelry? Hopefully a place where I won't get ripped off.

Unfortunately, unless you are or know a jeweller you are going to get ripped off to a certain extent. You also have to factor the cost of design into the price. The best option I can think of is to visit some bricks and mortar jewellers, haggle hard and get some base prices. Then search around on the net to see if you can beat it, make sure you email the stores for a best price.
