It looks like our good friends at Google are now censoring Torrents. They have censored the auto complete on instant. How does this improve the user experience? Just the first step, whats next will they will ban the torrents from showing up in results? To me its a slippery slope when you start censoring legal products and services on the off chance they may be used for "illegal" purposes.

same thing when you type in islam unless they changed it (not trolling.. this time)

What are you guys thinking? Of course eventually they are going to shut down free intellectual rights, enjoy it while it lasts. Growing up in Russia we had kiosks that sold any new music, video game, etc. for about $1 USD. That is all gone now. The internet is the next step. We have about 5 years max before torrents are out of existence or a bitch to find in private trackers. Better be balling by then and buying your $1.29 iTunes MP3s suckers.

This rhetoric has been going around for years, and despite it all there has been a way, and there will always be a way as long as the recording industry tries to resist new technology and keep their prices artificially inflated.

I remember a few years ago "Oh noes! Napster is gone, better buy your music" then ... "Oh noes! Limewire/BearShare/Gnutella is gone, better buy your music" now it's "Oh noes! Torrents are gone, better buy your music"

google it's against everything that has no copy rights , and also websites with free downloads . Check the alexa rank for rapidshare from the last 6 months .

^ What he said. Check out Hotfiles' massive ascent. I own a Rapidshare Premuim account and I'm not even sure what the hell I am getting for my money.

The Googles made their claim to fame by showing me what i am looking for this is what made it great and also the top site i visit. I switched from dogpile to google 7 to 10 years ago because it was better I was loyal to them exclusivly up until mayb 6 months ago when I started using Bing for images. Thats how it starts they wont go away but if they make it difficult to find what im lookin for why would you keep using it?

I use DDL sites so Hollywood doesn't get my IP. Does Usenet have more/less content than torrents/DDLs?

rapidshare is simply a bullshit site. There were bound to be better contenders jump into the ring, and that is more of a reflection on their userbase than anything else imho.

then for all torrent searxhes people move to bing ;p

Agreed... I figure that the more tantrums that google throws the more people will just decide to look at other options... hence bing so whatever.. let google do it's thing.
