Google localization

Hi, im in the uk but want to develop a site for the US market. Im aware that if i test out my serp ranking on google.com that im still see localized results to my loction in the uk and not what most Americans see. Is there a way to turn this off without using a proxy?

I think there's a url parameter you can add, Google it

Add the parameter &gl=XX where XX is the country code you want to see results for. Here's a list of those codes:

Go here:
Ready2Search(Google US)
Click the “OpenSearch plug-in Google USGoogle Toolbar” link near the bottom, after the “Change the plugin”-button.
That should do it.
If you’d want more options with different localization, just change the ‘gl’ parameter in the url to be the country code for the localization you want.
