If Viacom wins this suit it should open the doors for a flood of other Legal Challenges. So you can expect Google to do more of these types of affiliate campaigns.

Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo are in business for themselves. And there isn't much you can do about it. You have to adapt, adjust, and figure out how to profit from the opportunities that exist.

Google keeps coming up with programs to get people to volunteer information to them free of charge. And people keep taking the bait.

I for one hope Viacom wins this suit. At some point they need to be exposed for what they really are and the methods they use to make money off the efforts of others.

Google is just a big corporation in business to make money for the shareholders. Ethics apply to the other guy.

Anyone who thinks they have more of a right to Google's traffic than Google is insane in the membrane.

In a large department store, some booth are owned by the store, usually prominant ones. Some are rent to merchants/brands, some are rent to distributors or distributors of certain brands.
Everybody is told by the store to keep their booth beatiful, or relevent to the store's style. Everybody should pay a percentage of their revenue to the store, and the store knows everything.
The truth is, everybody lives, happily.

Yahoo has alot more content (produced by themselves) than Goog does. I wouldn't call it coming after affiliates. Just because some affiliate makes a shitty auto generating blog on credit cards does that mean that niche is off limits to the big players? That's competition, deal with it, specialize in an area that the bigger players should not be wasting their time getting into.
