Just heard about this..

The Texas Attorney General's office is going after the boys from GoogleMoneyTree for fraud.

Rumor has it the GMT guys are going to try and put blame on networks and some affiliates as well, although nothing has been filed against anyone else yet.

If anyone is still promoting it, I'd suggest you take it down right about now.

Again the AG is not differentiating (it appears) from the advertisers and the affiliates.

This is no doubt going to be a defense used by the advertiser. The Texas AM going after any affiliates is going to be very hard, imo.

However, this could make other advertisers create more disclaimers for their affiliates to abide by.

Ive seen the terms spot for this and other offers. There were time when I never saw an agree to terms box, or even text saying by submitting you agree....

They just had a hyperlink to the terms and privacy policy in the footer.

Once other ambitious but unimaginative AGs get a look at the load of publicity the Texas guy is getting? ... Nah, it'll never happen. I'm sure everyone else is safe using the EXACT SAME MODEL.

Seriously though, I hope they run those scams out of business. I know they are lucrative, but I've not had the stomach to sling that shit myself.
