OK, Iced Earth.....fooking horus-ankh yeaaah! Rammstein...flaming-synth plastic-penis woooot!!!

Here's the deal. Pick the best three bands/artists of the 60s, 70s, 80s 90s and 00s. Three bands for each decade!!! Your desert island bands. Then post a link to your last.fm profile if you have it.

My picks:

60s: The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Joni Mitchell
70s: Led Zeppelin, Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), David Bowie
80s: The Police, The Cure, Elvis Costello
90s: Smashing Pumpkins, Tears for Fears, INXS
00s: The Flaming Lips, Keane, Rufus Wainwright

Damn that was tough. I like my fair share of obscure bands but I also believe the cream rises. These band have the best songs with the most replay value in my world.

60's - Led Zeppelin, the beatles, Deep Purple
70's - Black Sabbath, BOC, EVH
80's - Iron Maiden, Slayer, Judas priest
90's - Megadeth, Death, Pantera

( i realize some of these bands' albums can be spread over the decade, i chose when my fav album of their's cam out)

i probably left some out
edit: the problem is that most of my fav bands are from the 80's and 90's

I was born in 83 so all that other shit is before my time.
I do know...
60's - Led Zeppelin
90's - 00 = Tool

poppy?

You listen to some good bands, I like alot of the stuff you got on your list.
My list doesnt have all of the bands on it that i like, I just joined Last.fm this month.

We should make a WickedFire group over there.

Wow you guys listen to more poppy stuff than I would have expected.

It actually hasn't been updated in some time now, but what can ya do.

Megadeth sux balls. I saw them after DT on gigantour (sp?), they didn't even begin to compare.

Each his own, but IMO, they blew DT off the stage. And I'm a HUGE DT fan, don't get me wrong.

that is what i said in my post, but my fav album by them is II, which came out in 69.

Not exactly pop, but within its genre I'd consider it pop.
Hawethorne Heights, Red Jumpsuit, Senses Fail, etc.

But don't get me wrong I listen to a lot of that stuff too, just not as much as I used to.

Pop doesn't need to be stuff like Britney Spears. Lots of indie musicians like to call their music pop. Also pop can be defined as something thats made to be enjoyed my the mainstream (thats the best way I can put it heh), which is exactly what a lot of "emo" bands are doing these days.

You can't tell me Dashboard Confessionals isn't pop, right?

Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne
Deep Purple
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Iced Earth (Matt Barlow kthx)
Judas Priest
Manowar
Gojira
Ensiferum
Doro
Alice Cooper
Rolling Stones
Thin Lizzy
Kreator
Destruction
Ronny James Dio
Dimmu Borgir

Can't seem to pick one. heh.

very nice, I love kreator.

emo is pop, and it is crap as well. if tomorrow death metal was wildly popular, then i am afraid that would be considered pop as well.
