If you are just going to provide information, why not create a blog instead of a forum. Forums take a lot of time and work to make successful.

If you create a blog and add articles discussing organic products and environmental issues etc, you'll find it much easier to rank and get visitors. You'll still have a kind of community site because visitors can leave comments.

In your articles you can link to the products you discuss using your affiliate links.

@ Manga59 & Ferbent: why isn't it ? Think that should be a great way to make money because you've got more traffic to the website. People can participate and going thru the boards. It's more learning and discussion. Seen ?

In a blog I could only post my own with not many people leaving comments... Forum are generally more friendly than a simple blog.

@ Silentbob : thanks for pointing out Yves Rocher campain. Very good one and I'll find what I want in it :p

when you're used to a website, and forum users fall under this type of visitors, you don't pay much attention to banners because you're used to see ads in that spot

Remember that you probably think in a totally different way than 99% of your visitors: you check the ads on every website you visit because you want to see what the others are promoting and how they're doing it.

That said, niche forums are ovbiously better than generic, by the way not running any forums I can't know much about monetization aspects

Your best traffic source will be the search engines so, when I say content I mean threads where you will post useful content that can help people. For example you can tell them how to grow ecological tomatoes or any other vegetables, how to drive their car in a more ecological way, how to make their house more eco friendly and so on. The eco niche is huge.

This is the best way to attract returning users. Give them solutions and make them think you are an expert and they will return with new problems.

Nobody will stay on your forum if all you have is an empty board with no posts.
