never guest blogged before. I found someone who's letting me write an article and said I'd get a link back to my site.

Should I include this at the bottom of the article I submit? or will he do it? what's the general method that is accepted?

In my entire experience with SEO, talking with experts almost daily on how to rank in the search engines, I literally don't even know how to answer this question. I would say just go with it and call it a day.

How about ask the guy? Different webmasters have different ways they like to do that. You should know upfront because where that link goes affects you.

Is it going in a bio box? Because that is not as good as within the body of the content itself, branded anchor text. Make sure it's do follow too while you're at it.

great info. TY

If you are targeting an anchor link like "sports equipment", you want that within the body and best thing is to ask the webmaster.

If author box link, the webmaster is USUALLY intelligent enough to know the reason of your guest post so... don't ask.

I usually just bold the keyphrase when I send the guest post. In your email to the webmaster just remind him to link that phrase to "http://xxxxxx" most of them can figure it out.

In post links hold a little more value in my opinion than bio box links. However both will work well. Diversity is your friend.

The title of your post should include your target keyword (of the page on your own site you're linking to), and the anchor text should be generic, in the middle of a paragraph beneath a phrase match sub heading.

If the article actually offers value to the site's audience (not "Top 5 tips for blah") and you follow the above advice, a dofollow link is perfectly fine.

I wrote a few guest posts. Some people don't mind if you include a link back to your website at the end of the article and other people prefer to create a "author" box for you with a link to your website. Either way I think you will get the same results. Just make sure a link is included SOMEWHERE.
