Ok, So I'm fairly new to the affiliate game and have been studying it now for some time and find it extremely interesting & quite entertaining. I have a lot of experience creating proprietary leads for my profession / business with ppc and buying media. I know the value of leads and therefore understand that money can be made doing this but marketing and selling them. But the question I have is just how much money? If the money, margins, and profit we hear about from the guru's so 'possible', why on earth would they be telling us how to achieve it?

See, even if 'guru's' are banking $50-$1500 dollars on newbies signing up for their 'must have' information, programs, and secrets - why not instead just throw a good chunk the money they are making back into their profitable campaigns (after all they know how to find these by the boatloads right?) and scale on a more massive level, thus earning more and getting richer and richer and, so on and so on? But rather, I've noticed they all seem so amazingly eager (desperate) to sell out their so called 'secrets' for a couple hundred bucks and thereby creating more competition for themselves. Even if few people that take action on their advice, does this really make any sense? Competition after all, is competition no matter how informidable it may seem. :spawn: hmmmmmm

If you have a successful business, would you start running seminars to teach your competitors how to do it just like you? LOL. Come on, that's almost funny.

Entertain me for a minute here: Put yourself in the high and mighty "guru's" shoes for a second. Isn't the world market for an infinite array of products and opportunities exponentially bigger than a niche market of wannabe affiliate marketers? If these guys are so good at the 'game', why on earth are they wasting their time with us? Why would they want to grow this market or affiliate marketers and potential sabotage their own successful campaigns and lifestyle? :arcadefreak: Think about that for a second. Maybe at heart they are just idiots who are canabalizing themselves for the sake of a quick and easy sale? If this is the case, do you want to listen to an farking idiot? But maybe there's more to it than this...

Let's use a real life non-internet example: I can take my industry (insurance) for illustrative purposes. If I own an agency that is outperforming 95% all of my competitors - why on earth would I teach others how to do it like me? I make money selling lots of insurance right? I make a thing called commissions right? I certainly wouldn't say: Hey pay me $200 bucks or $1000 dollars and I'll show you exactly how I do this so you can get rich too! We can then compete with each other for that 5k, 10k, 50k account! I'll teach you how I do it, so when you sit down with one of my big clients he won't know the difference between me and you!!! That's just being a fool, a bad businessman - At the very least, it's being a cheap whore.

No, what I would do instead of teaching my competition is to re-invest in my business and grow it. I would hire agents, bind them to contracts, teach them and then I would earn something on every penny I helped them make (overrides). With my employees help i would, and listen up here; GAIN MARKET SHARE! It's a win-win. Eventually they may leave and start their own firm but that is why there are such things as 'non-compete' clauses and the like. If the employee leaves, at least I received production out of him for good amount of time, and maybe I keep him (and his nice stream of income) for life. At the very least he helped me build what?? - Answer (for all you not following); MARKET SHARE: The key to real growth, profitability, and riches.

Look, these 'guru's' aren't stupid, hmmmm, or are they? Could it be that they are insanely good at what they do and are foolishly pumping the market with clones of themselves all for a quick dollar, unable to resist the steady gravy they see in the 'guru market'. Or maybe it's just that they aren't really in the game at all anymore?

I propose that YOU are their new (and probably for the most part) ONLY meal ticket. Think about it for a second.

In my insurance business insurance marketers 'insurace gurus' market to me all day long on how to sell, what to sell, systems, etc etc. What's most remarkable is that most of the guys marketing these insurance marketing methods have no traceable success AT ALL in the insurance industry! You can't even find evidence of an insurance license! Are you getting my drift here? Or do you believe every doctored spreadsheet and paycheck that you see? If you do, I'm selling a bridge in Brookyln.

I think further evidence of the 'guru's' desperation to cling to this one last niche they have a hold on is that each is trying so desperately to create their own systems and computer programs, with each one promising more riches over the next. Some seem quite good and some seem to be the effort LOTS of work put into the development of these things (programming, etc etc). It's all quite slick actually. But, why on earth would such incredibly rich and successful marketers be making and marketing systems to make you more like them? Again, (and I know I may be beating a dead horse here so forgive me) but why would they put so much effort into this and not into simply scaling their own campaigns? After all, isn't affiliate marketing what they are so good at?

I think it's obvious: The fact is 99% of these 'gurus' are not so called 'super affiliates' at all - or even close to being super affiliates. The 'guru's' are simply marketers milking the shit out all you suckers who are part of the 'hungry crowd'. They don't really know how to sell online much better than you do, but they know how to press your buttons and somehow convince you that you need them, and their products, to be successful.

I'm not saying that everything the guru's tell us is a lie or ineffective. What I am suggesting is that the so called 'guru's' are affiliate marketers who had known much better days, (maybe) and now faced with a flooded market of newbies, and a growing dominance of super affiliates (gurus are not super affiliates) they have resorted to something almost desperate, yet somehow clever (for all you suckers out there :anon.sml:), and that is: marketing their old tricks to the ever growing wave of desperate newbies looking to get on a gravy train that pulled out of the station years ago, leaving even themselves behind.

In a sense these so called guru's are great adapters, turning lemons (their failure in affiliate marketing) into lemonade. But I propose they are nearly all FRAUDS. :boid: And if in fact I'm wrong..... If the 'gurus' are noble, smart business people, hell even with an altruistic side, willing to anyone with a couple hundred bucks how to make a killing online, what will this do to this market? Or what has it already done?

right, I forgot you guys max out according to google adwords character limits. my bad

Possibly. It certainly couldn't have been any fault with your writing style. With that engaging headline and copy that captivates the reader for paragraph after paragraph after paragraph after paragraph . . .

I didn't read but I got the gist of it from OP's narrative use of smileys.

:spawn: : OP is infected with canibalistic self cloning virus
:arcadefreak: : OP turns lemons into lemonade by creating video game from the experience
 : Favorable review of game given by Gamespot
 : OP is astounded as monies roles in after acquisition by Zynga
 : OP lives the baller lifestyle for awhile
:anon.sml: : During cocaine and Zima fueled rampage OP accidentally kills hooker and goes into hiding
:boid: : OP get pissed when he ends up featured on America's Most Wanted

that was really long. Guru's have 'big secrets' cause it let's them sell their shit. they like selling shit. they enjoy it. it is good (for them).

Why would they give away 'secrets' for a measly $200-1500 and risk saturating the market- here's the big secret- they aren't giving away big secrets, they are just packaging the information that's freely available and selling it to people too lazy or stupid to look for it. this isn't anything new, it's been going on for a very long time.

And honestly, a lot of big bloggers and such make a killing of referral commissions... no need to hire people or make them sign a contract when you can help people get started and then earn 2% for life or whatever.

Also I was just venting. I don't give a F&ck if anyone reads it. But it's nice to know some of you agree ;)

Skimmed,

Much to agree on by all and discussed xxxxxxxx times. Guru's sell shit because they can. Guru wannabees try and do it wrong and influx the market with said shit. Wannabee wannabees buy/read and do the same. Some finally figure it out and end up at wickedfire after a year at DP, ranting about bullshit, some start blogs about it, life goes on.

Here's the scope for you fam:

*Buy $7item - you're now on a buyer list, you get good shit.
*Upsell to $37 gotta get it item - you're on a filtered repeat list - perfect prey - you get less good shit.
*Upsell to seminar, webinar, coaching, phone consultations, new bizops - you get no good shit.
*Guy that sold you $7 item now keeps 30-40% of whatever his sales floor makes when they call and sell $x,xxx - $xx,xxx coaching to you.
*Guy who holds seminars gets 30-40% of anything anyone sells on his stage, guy who sold you $7 item gets a cut for getting you there, or is the same guy and gets it all. You mean nothing you're a number.

Welcome.
