MLMs, multi level marketing companies, are closely tied to affiliate marketing. Has anyone run a company like this? I know they are associated with pyramid schemes but if the company has a legitimate product to sell then I don't think there is a legal issue. And with several tiers I think MLMs could have serious money potential for the guys at the top.
 


Yes, all of the points that you've made are correct. The problem with running an MLM is the accounting and initial base shop.

Why do you ask?
 
I wanted to start a discussion about this business to learn all I can about it. Ie legal issues (if any), good niches, finding salesmen, marketing, startup and regular costs, etc. And most importantly is it still a strong, viable idea or has it been played out already?
