I've noticed this too many times to just consider it a coincidence.

I'll start a campaign get a sale real quick. Then that's it, no matter how much i'm running it, it isn't like my stats in the beginning.

Is this since, it takes some time for Yahoo (in my case) to determine the QS/CTR and that's the reason sales go away? After seeing these stats, they change the priority and placement of my ad?

I've noticed this on blog ads so it's important to swap them out about every 2 weeks or so to prevent "banner blindness". Or you can use an ad rotator plug-in.

Mini-sites I leave pretty static with Adsense and a few other offers that will catch the first time visitor's attention. Adsense is pretty consistent low money maker but it pays to swap affiliate offers in and out. Ad rotators can work here too.

I've only recently started working with PPC campaigns like SEODave described. I think these are intended to die off pretty quickly or just plain die at birth.

I have also seen this MANY times... which is why I gave up on PPC. I know it is not just me now, so thanks for starting this thread.

No matter if it is Google, Yahoo, or MSN ( sorry, never got sales on ASK ).. I start a campaign for some affiliate product and build up my keywords and put them in seperate groups with their own ads and run the campaign.

Normally within the first 2 days I get 1-8 sales.. then after that, I keep getting clicks but no sales all month long.

I have done this too many times with different programs, platforms, ads, niches, keywords, and budgets to consider it not coincidence

Not so sure about Yahoo, but with Google you can get high quality search traffic immediately, then after a few hours the quality score kicks in, your minimum bid gets raised and from then on you just get content traffic (unless you raise your bid.)
