I googled hi res HDR backgrounds awhile back and found some pretty nice ones, maybe give that a shot.

As for the 1 shot vs 3 shot issue, 3 shots with different bracketed exposures is indeed better because you have three different raw images with full data to sample from. However, if you only have one raw image you can make what is called a pseudo HDR with the Photoshop Raw image plugin. Just load up the image, change the exposure down two stops, up two stops, and then save all three images and load those into Photomatix.

Also, a tripod is pretty essential if you are doing bracketing, however you can also just set your camera down on a solid surface if you don't have one. A shutter release shouldn't be needed unless you have Parkisons or something or are really picky.

If you set the 2 second timer, it is going take like 10 ~ 15 second to get all three shots. Also, you might move your camera when you click your shutter.

a cable is not a must, but it def. easier than clicking the shutter on ur camera

it's called automatic exposure bracketing.. one click and it takes three shots in different exposures. most dSLR cameras have this.

It's still 3 individual shots, one right after the other. If the camera is set to continuous shooting then you only need to press and hold the button once, if it's set to single shooting, you have to press the button 3 times.

Camera shake is therefore going to have a negative effect. Certainly a tripod and an IR trigger would make this better.

Great wallpaper link there man. There are some nice shots on there.

no, AEB is automatic. one press and no holding = three shots. My relatively basic Canon XT has these feature so of course newer cameras have this too. that's the case for Canon cameras, at least.

agreed with the above that photomatix can align images.

here's a shot i used for a cover of a calendar..

yes it does, but Medici said his camera can take all three shot with on click (for A200 you need to click 3 time or hold the shutter down during all three shot)

A700 is nice..but it is no a huge upgrade. Hopefully Sony come up a FF camera around 1.5k in the next two years

Actually it's a pretty significant upgrade to the a200 depending on how you use it. Noise, higher iso, better focus speed, faster continuous shooting, higher shutter speed, remote control, manual DRO controls, dust/moisture resistant, magnesium body, pc terminal, vertical grip, HDMI output. Plus you get a better camera strap with it. lol

Dude, I don't think this is something we need to argue about. It's 3 shots, either in continuous shooting mode with one press of the button, or in single shot mode with 3 presses of the button. Either way it's going to benefit from being stabilized on a tripod using a trigger. Not essential, but certainly better.

I have the Canon 400D and that is the way this camera works, and I'm sure the way all of the Canon DSLR line works.
 
oh i agree, i have my way that works and that's it. anyone got any other HDR photos they shot?

i love this stuff.
