Here's A Good Place To Stay in Vegas

I just made a different Vegas post and it reminded me to post this as well. I know a few of you are going to ASW soon so thought this might be useful.

I stayed at in Tower 1 of the Signature MGM in April this year. This place was awesome.

Some cool things I remember:

It's a private place - non guests can't come in. You get a keycard which you swipe inside the MGM. Keeps out punks. Lets you in.

It's smoke free.

It's got no casinos (and noise) inside it. But if you want to gamble, it's attached to the MGM. You go downstairs, stand on a moving walkway for 2 mins and you're inside the main MGM building. Best of both worlds.

Rooms are ok priced.

Every room is a suite. This was the second largest room I've ever stayed in 500 sq feet, Jacuzzi, sitting area, tv in the bathroom, all that crap.

I tipped a 20 to the check in lady ONLY if she got us the room I wanted (balcony, facing the strip, all my other crap). She also upgraded us to penthouse. Now that's what I call ROI.

Private pool only for guests of the Signature, Vegas gets crowded on the weekends.

The concierge does anything for you. They took parcels in for us. They got stuff for us. They hooked us up with queue jumps at all the top clubs (Tryst, Tao, XS etc) when we turned up at 12am, and by then there is a huge queue of hot girls outside all these bloody places. They actually gave us the phone number of the promoter of each place and we'd call when we were outside the club, and they'd come find us and take us in (disclaimer: this might not work if you have all all guys or more guys then girls with your group - if that's the case just tell a few girls from the queue they can queue jump with you)

They deal with my shit pretty quickly unless it's 6am on sat morning (Vegas has HUGE moths flying around toward the end of April, and these things would keep ending up in our room, prob from the AC vent - yeah I'm a puss when it comes to huge bugs - and what)! My buds had the same prob at the Wynn a few days earlier so I know it's not just the Sig. I'd see these HUGE BIRD ASS moths and call downstairs, and they'd send up two guys who looked like ghostbusters, with this backpack hoover to suck up all the moths - bad ass!

Got a Starbucks inside if you don't want to go far for breakfast.

Ok damn, well I know it sounds like I'm promoting this place here, but na. These are my experiences. If it's near you at ASW try it out.

And I was told to go to this place called 'Off the strip - Just real food' for great food. Took 20 mins by cab and the place looks farrrting dingy.

But the food - oh man. It was awesome. The owner was cool too and after we finished eating our mains and were seriously full, he said I made this cheesecake this morning, try it. We were like nah thanks though, and he gets us this full slice, on the house. I don't usually dig cheesecake, but this was seriously tasty stuff (yes we did tip him big for this slick ass move). Hit it if you can be bothered to make the journey.

Ok well, hope someone finds this useful cos I was lost before I went there.

wynn way better. pointless post

That's what my bud kept telling me ("it's newer, so it's gotta be better"). But the Wynn didn't even make the top ten hotels in Vegas list on TA (still hasn't made the top 10 today either). And that's listed by hotel guests user reviews - has never let me down yet. So I skipped it.

Like I said nothing against the Wynn, I only posted my experiences. And I've never stayed at the Wynn, so you know.

I went to the Wynn though, the place has got some seriously nice decor.

yeah no joke, the MGM signature is really nice. wynn may be nice (wouldn't know), but the MGM signature was a great hotel when I was there.

wynn way better. pointless post

grammar good. make post caveman. man like food. fire hot. just because you like one hotel doesn't mean instantly all of the others are shit, the MGM signature is great. have you stayed there?

Circus Circus. lol. I actually went inside there once just out of curiosity. I saw a clown up on a trapeze above the casino floor. And a 400 lb black woman yelled at me for taking her favorite slot machine seat even though she was at the buffet when I sat in it. Oh, and her kids were running around on the casino floor, too.

Try walking into Wynn or Mirage, you won't see any of that crapola. We're talking driving a Ferrari vs. the local bus if you want an analogy.

Also stay far away from: Excalibur, Monte Carlo, Sahara, Stratosphere, Tropicana, Ballys, Imperial Casino, etc. unless you are looking for a $50 room and wanting to deal with the scum that often accompany them.

No joke, I know exactly what you mean. Certain places in Vegas have this trashy vibe around them. Like they're filled with riff raff.

Some of those places I visited had people walking from the pool, all soaking wet, THROUGH the casino floor back to their rooms. Yeah sure no one minds the hot chicks parading around, but what about the rest of them?

I was like WTF is this? Worst thing is that it doesn't cost a lot more to stay at a really nice place either.

Crazy thing about Vegas is the amount of money flowing through that freaking town. I saw a ring at Tiffanys inside the Venetian, with a price tag of $550k. I was like shit, you know they probably sell a boatload of those here, as well!

I need me a sugar daddy...

Actually the Monte Carlo isn't too bad. It's probably about the same as the Rio. Definitely a couple of notches below the Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio etc but nowhere as bad as Stratosphere (where I'm told is the best way to score weed), Circus Circus with the clown-like guests etc.

I'll be staying for 3 nights at the Sahara, which is conveniently located halfway between old and new Vegas, paid for with Delta flier miles. I'll not be gambling or putting on airs - just coming for the show and don't need fancy. :) Last time I visited I stayed at the Luxor.

I almost booked a longer visit to rent a car and make a side trip to Red Rock national park or Death Valley, but decided to go home and get back to work sooner.

nice, i'm at the sahara too with an associate, 20$ a night, can't go wrong - got a car for 7 days too and it came in at under 580$ CAD with all taxes and shit. Gotta love winter rates.
