Well Dude, Adsense doesn't pay very well but it does convert better than many other offers. The previous advise about test is correct. Don't forget to test the positions of your ads. Most say they need to be "above the fold".
Yes advertisers do sometimes take a long time to approve you. Sometimes it's because they are debating whether or not to stop the campaign. Wait until you are driving traffic to join CJ. No sales for 6 months will equal a closed account.

1. Your own products..most profitable of all
2. Affiliate Products...You may want to direct traffic to a squeeze page which will take them to a affiliate products page once they sign up.
3. CPA programs....good income with the right programs
4. Adsense....last of my choices
Just seems that it takes less time and effort to profit from your own products and some good affiliate programs, hell and even some good CPA programs....Adsense is lots of work for little pay.
