High performance laptop needed - need advice.

I did a search and found a few old (and inconclusive) threads on this topic, so I want to know what you guys would recommend. I need a really powerful laptop which isn't gonna piss me off by slowing down and lagging. I have a tendency to open and run lots of shit and I expect the new laptop to be able to handle it. It needs to have a sick graphics card too.

I'm tempted to go with the new Alienware laptops, either the m15x, m17x or the m17, with a setup which would cost me around $3k. The only problem is, I've read complaints that Alienware laptops are unreliable and prone to overheating/breaking down, etc. It's a shame, because they really do look sick (both spec-wise and aesthetically).

Your thoughts?

Dell XPS M1530 or for even more power+SLI then the Dell XPS M1730. Those are just what I prefer.

if you don't play game or do graphic intense stuff...a 3000 dollar laptop isn't much faster than a sub 1000 laptop

mac and alienware are both overpriced and not worth buying. if you're not gaming with it, get the fastest dual core lenovo you can afford
