Okay so don't judge me, but I'm looking for some tips on hiring a copywriter?

Anything to look out for, questions to ask etc?

Thanks,
Yes really thank you for reading the thread, even if you don't help me out.

Its better to find someone who has used a copywriter before and have him refer you to him rather than find a copywriter on your own IMO..

Just read the reviews in the threads, there should be enough info there to make good decisions.

I'd also make sure you read some of their copy. Sure, other people might think it's good but if you don't like it, you're never going to be satisfied with the job.

I forgot to add - there are also some copywriters that will provide 1 or 2 more revisions to the copy after they are done with the first copy (included in the original price).

check odesk.com , there are many copywriters who can do the job for 40 to 50 $ per hour . I used an American female and she did an awesome job .

Yeah, be wary of reviews and iTraders. I really firmly believe that people give great reviews for three reasons: 1. The copy is actually good. 2. They were happy with the communication and don't want to leave a bad review. 3. Bargain basement pricing -- they got more than they paid for, so they review and say it's some of the best copy they've ever bought.

If you're looking for good writing, you need samples that are written for you -- if you're paying good money, you shouldn't have trouble finding a writer willing to whip a sample or two up for you.

you get what you pay for applies most to copywriting. but remember one thing "Clarity trumps persuasion" one of my favorite quotes from the marketingexperiment guys. Just ask yourself if you really need a sales pitch for what your selling. You would probably have better success if you just made the process simple and easy for the customer to understand what you want them to do. Don't pack your website with a huge 5 page sales pitch if your trying to sell toilet paper.

read something they've written, because 99% of copywriters/writers/whatever advertise stellar services for few cents, but all you'll get is crap, maybe of different levels, but still crap

Thanks guys, I talked to one copywriter who honestly told me that my landing page has clarity and does not need persuasion. Still trying to find someone who can make this really convert.
