i will be launching a consulting business in my country (Its in asia) and wondering whether i should just host with the local guys here or just use USA hosting providers.

I believe google favours local hosting when it comes to local ranking. Since my focus is mainly the local market, what do u guys recommend?

If you believe Matt Cutts then get localized hosting. I think it does not play a huge part but probably helps if you want to rank in your local search engine. I think the TLD is more important though..

As your target market is your own country, if you can get reliable local hosting then why not? But I really don't think it is a major factor, you can set your target country in Google Webmaster Tools.

I always go with local hosting. It definitely helps with SERP and latency to your local market.

mate that guy have server bought fm US no worries just ask for the data center ... and server location... if you want to know more feel free to Pm me...

I tend to host my servers in stable countries and also stable regions of a country.
Meaning that areas that are not prone to hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes.
Power outages are not fun for the DC or my servers.

No need for a second thought.
Go for hosting in U.S That must be cheap and reliable.
Contact a datacenter, and ask them abt co-location.
Burstnet is a good one.
