I have a antivirus software review sit ethat was doing well pre panda [around February], and then it got slapped during 2-3 months of panda, it's now back, but sales have dropped considerably.

The search volumes have hit rock bottom.

I was #10 before and used to get 5-6 different visits a day.

Now I'm in #2 uk and #4 USA for the same search term. I'm getting 1-5 hits a day.. That's 5 on a GOOD day.

It's quite frustrating. I think it could be done to the season, hopefully it's the season.

Or the other factor is that before panda there were quite rubbish results from a consumers point of view, many affiliate sites and some obvious sattelite sites that were designed to promote a paticular company..

Now the serps has changed a lot, the #2 and #2 are very authorative sites that have legitimate antivirus reviews from computer magazines sites, that are exhaustive and well researched. So they're probably eating up all the searchers, and the visitors aren't filtering down on the latter search results.

To be honest it could be a number of things, but I'm trying to rule out some, do any of you guys have experience in the software/tech niche and can enlighten me on what the search volumes/conversions like during the summer month.

I saw summer with a slight eye roll, because here in London it's wet and the sky is covered with rainclouds, blocking out the sun.

Both our volume and conversion rate is off. Way off. This is one of the slowest July's I have seen in years and we are not sure when to expect our campaigns (B2C, not software) to come back to life. I would assume September, and that sucks.

i guess the lesson is diversification, I have a fitness site that's getting crazy traffic right now, but the conversion rate on that isn't as good nor is it profitable as the software one.

Some of the business licenses for the software fetch up to hundreds of dollars, and the comissions are fantastic.

Fitness site is hard grafting pummeling visitors with promotions, opt in lists, being active on youtube etc.

For some industries, july is going to be a dull season. You have to deal with it. One of the direct advertiser for my blog just backed out his campaigns for summer and will only be back late september, so i guess july-aug is going to be tough for many niches

Hi TigerUK,

Usually in the summer people are not going to work where most of the browsing and shopping gets done.

They're out having fun away from their computers, spending their money somewhere else.

With the economical crisis and all no wonder this was one of the worst summers ever.

I have a website that always gets slow sales and conversions in the summer time, even the hits are lower.

Now September is at the doors, things are looking up for me too, it's getting better.

Cheers,
