Is there a way that I can register a domain then build a brand new web site on it, but prevent people from being able to check the date I registered this domain by simply conducting a “whois” search in godaddy?

So far, from what I understand, even if a web master registers their domain as “private,” that people will still be able to find out the exact “date” that the domain was registered.

You see, I’m building some lead generating sites, in one of my niche’s, and I’m trying to minimize the possibility of my competitors monitoring when I start a new site.

All suggestions are welcome!!

Date of registry is the one thing you can't fake.

If you're truly concerned about other info, purchase the site using a pre-paid anonymous credit card, like the ones VISA are selling at the moment, register it from a public internet cafe, and give fake information.

that does nothing to affect the date ...

if the OP is that concerned, he should buy a dropping domain from snapnames auctions or somewhere similar... but I don't think there is anyway that you can hide mask or obscure the actual date of registration.

yes it is impossible to fake the date. However, the best bet for you would be to acquire existing domains whcih will show the old creation dates. :)

For a new domain, you cannot hide the registration date, but many people sell registered domains cheap or give them away free.

Even if he buys one who is already registered, it is possible to see the exact date and time he bought the domain, when it was updated and so on.

And just if you dont know, it is not allowed to fake an whois. If caught you loose the domain for sure.

Best regards,

if you register a .de domain, it will only show "last update",but no register/expiring date.but i guess you dont want a .de ....
