On the firing line
So last night, in my infinite grace, I managed to fall down the stairs. Not once, but twice within an hour. Yep, I'm so retarded that I forgot their were 4 stairs left and not just one. Not only did I forget once, I forgot TWICE.

Now, I'm not expecting any sympathy. "OMG Mike! Are you okay?" I'm fine, I'm posting here, right?

Anybody else this clumsy? Mildly clumsy? Clumsy enough that they've burned the house down in the middle of a torrential rain? Just curious.

I'm not very clumsy, although I've had my moments. When I was working at my uncles' machine shop... I once forgot to tighten down the chuck on a lathe... and ummmm... $10k worth of damage or so? Only happened once though.

Hahaha shit for some reason that reminds me of the time I locked eyes with my competitor for the last piece of pizza. Tore around the corner looking over my shoulder and crashed through the sliding glass window. Stunned and off balance.. I then crashed into the (in order) chair #1, table, chair #2, and home theater system.

Clumsiest moment of my life definitely.

Flicked a cigarette out the window rolling down the highway. Wind picked it up, landed in buddys hair in the back seat, singed it to nothing like dry leaves.

Was years ago, really hammered at the time.

Not trying to turn this into another Exercise thread but if you do some more sports and exercise you will get less clumsy.

Mountain Biking, exercise bikes. jogging, jumprope, martial arts....

LMAO. Did his hair catch on fire like Michael Jackson?

AHHHHH HEEEEE HEEEEEEEEEEEE

LOL! In retrospect it was pretty funny. I did the same stupid thing twice. Basically, we have 4 steps going from the living room to the kitchen, as I was going down them I took the first one and then thought I only had one left (instead of 3) and stepped off into space.

"Watch out! That second step's a doozy!"

A couple weeks ago, I managed to fall down the stairs while going up them. From the foyer to the front living room is also four steps. Going up them, I missed the top step and went backwards onto my head, shoulder, butt, etc. That time it hurt.

The next house I live it will have NO STAIRS :D

For years now, I can't afford to be clumsy, as my wife has real bad balance at times.
I am the one grabbing her before anyone else even notices she's about to topple over.

Actually, though...

Our new apartment (we moved in 3 years ago) has a slightly elevated hallway, so every room has a very small "step".
Can't count the times I stepped right onto it until I learned.

::emp::

I've sprained my ankle about 4 times on the same spot out front - know it's there always step on it.

Other than that I'm like a freakin ninja :)

"clumsy" can be a real issue. For years we've made fun of my girlfriend for the amount of times she's fallen (there were some really historic whoppers in there all the way back to highschool...crap I'm chuckling now just thinking of them) but she has alot of muscular issues like fibromyalgia. There can also be reflex and perception issues...basically your brain works faster than your body can get you there so you get all tangled up. Most toddlers experienced this when they are first learning how to navigate this massive gangly body and limbs with their ridiculously fast brains. But yeah some are more graceful than others...my first child never ever fell. I mean MAYBE twice in his first 5 years did he have a actual "tumble". My second one falls twice an HOUR. I'm not kidding. I have no idea what thats about.

Try using the stairs anywhere in Holland. In our families old house, they were like almost vertical and really skinny. Hahahah I would always stumble up them

My wife says I never look where I'm going. My response is "I can't see my feet, so why bother looking down".

I think it's a matter of preoccupation. The other night, I was trying to get the camera to take pics of the new puppy and that's where my focus was (not on walking up or down stairs) and a couple weeks ago I was rushing to get back to my computer after a cigarette break. So, maybe it's not stairs, it's cigarettes and cameras I need to avoid...

I do shit like that all the time. Have been to the hospital a couple of times after slipping and cutting myself, once on a window, once on an escalator. Have also had numerous "minor" accidents caused by clumsiness, that didn't require hospital visits.

What's up with the accidents and "other stuff" happening to the mods?
Mike falls down twice, LordB breaks his hand (or was it leg?), people are still debating whether yet another mod - has a tool - or - is a tool (j/k).
