Is it all by judgement or is there actually a way to tell how much each ad pays? I visit the website listed under the ad and it's hard to tell whether I should block them.

mason if you visit the site and it is an affiliate site or a MFA site, block the shit! they are not paying much for traffic!

I use http://www.adsblacklist.com/ for blocking Adsense advertisers!

Ofcourse, there are more reasons why you want to block advertisers...
When I only want to have close related ads and notice that certain not very related advertisers show up all the time, I block them as well! Etc. :)

I never used to block ads, just take them one by one. But I am testing out this new fangangled place that Michel pasted, seeing how I fair with 50 blocked :)

It is pretty obvious

block sites that contain the words top, resource, info, ect in the title or domain

Also visit the site. If it contains some form click ads it is probaby annother arbi site. Block it.

I'm using YPN so the game's a little different. YPN has a serious geotargeting problem; they serve location-specific ads to people who aren't anywhere near that location. I've had some completely general niches with half my ad space taken up by ads for services in specific cities. Since there's almost no chance my visitor is from the same city the ad's for, those ads are complete wasted space. So I've been blocking them. I've also been trying to stay away from niches where I think they'll be common.

is it jsut me or does competitive ad filter not work? I've entered 5 urls last night and 6 hours later the ads are still being shown on my sites.

It eventually works. I too had that problem. But sometimes it takes time for that shit to kick in. Also, if you think that the site that your blocking is useless, then block the entire domain (ex. ebay.com) and not just the url.

yea I do that. how much do ebay.com ads pay anyways? a lot of my sites have that as the link.

I blocked some last night and now 18 hours later they're still showing up. I also don't understand why some of these ads are showing up in the top position? I thought the higher-paying ads showed first, so why are low-paying mfa ads coming up first?
