I want to try out eli's screensaver method, but I don't know if the images I'm going to use are for public use or not. If it makes any difference they aren't pictures of celebrities. I suppose if it's on yahoo images doesn't necessarily mean it's for public use?

rofl of course not. Just go to a stock site, or some recycled celebrity wallpaper site....or buy an image database on DP or something.

well, I wanted to use images in a particular niche that I think would get downloads, but I'll guess I'll try out those ideas.

Well you have to ask yourself - what are the chances of the author of that book stumbling across the screensaver, tracking it back to you, and suing you? If they DID find you, you'd probably only get a C&D. If it's really that important to you/a big money maker, go for it.

P.S. I am not a lawyer. :D

Watch out because all the big stock photography companies have web crawlers that are automatically looking for unlicenced distribution of their images and will bill you thousands of dollars.

He said he's putting them in a screensaver though.

And do they really? Heh. I wonder if they look at the actual image, or just the filename, or what...

just be an affiliate of Screensavers - Free Animated Summer & Fourth of July Screensavers Themes & Desktop Wallpaper
then you won't have to make one single screensaver. I think it's 50c per install.
Be running in 3 mins flat. Bid on Britney at 7search, come compete with me, lol.

Screensavers.com has Adsense and other leaks on their site. I fucking hate companies that do shit like that to their affiliates.

It's $.80 per install... has to be from US (checked by operating systems version) and the person has to agree to install their crappy toolbar for you to get credit.

I could deal with everything but the Adsense... that's just fucked up... create an affiliate program and have people drive clicks to an adsense site.

It gets worse... they are even using "Content Link" or Kontera... whatever the fuck the auto-link contextual shit is called.

If you are an affiliate of them, I would send the AM some hate mail. You should not put up with this crap.

I guess he could use them till he finds some PD photos for his screensavers.

Zango seem to have a bit of a reputation too if that's how he's going to monetize.
