How effective can Affiliate Marketing really be?

I'm kinda new to the Internet Marketing scene and was wondering if I could get some assistance? :jester:

its actually not very effective dawg. what ends up happening 100% of the time some dirty affiliate runs around with shady ad-copy and fucks the whole game up!
 
To give you a proper answer you need to ask a more specific question, when you say "how effective can affiliate marketing be" you need to mention effective at what. For example, affiliate marketing is not very effective for making pancakes, because pancakes require batter and batter doesn't travel through the internet very easily.

My Bad, sorry bout that. I meant how effective it was in being able to generate a steady or at least some flow of income? I mean, after all the energy that you put in trying to market this thing, does it pay off?
