spamming porn in the begining before can-spam was $$$.
fell out of the game for a couple years..
came back and tried some WH stuff.. wasn't into it. i'm a lazy spammer by nature, so organic search traffic that takes time and tons of effort wasn't my thing.
found something super BH that worked, and quickly (within a few days of starting) was making 150-300 a day off the bat from it.
now it's just scale, scale, scale!
been doing this since the 1st of the year (with a 2 month hiatus).

now branching out trying to get some passive income flowing in.. going back and learning the ins and outs of SEO and PPC, and testing some offline marketing as well.
ahhhh.. the joys of AM.. shit sure beats the 9-5 doesn't it?

my advice, find something that works, and blow it the fuck up.
scale, scale, scale! i know it's tedious, but it'll pay off in the end.

also, some people may feel differently... but me? i threw a lot of my ethics out the window when i got into AM (to a point). to me, as long as it's within the boundries of the law or there's no way i'm getting caught? get that fucking money.

So true

first sale after 3 days. exciting... then 1 sale per month for a while.
after 6 months i started doing low X,XXX but i've been there for almost a year now...
time to step up i guess

in the midst.

Just started not long ago...so I'm eager to find out when it's really going to turn "profitable." Many others on the forum are quite inspirational though...

I've been messing around with a bunch of campaigns so far, I'm not hitting it big or anything, but I'm profitable. It'd been a week and a half to two weeks tops since I started.

My fastest SEO campaign got a new site indexed in 4 days and in position number 12 by the 4th month. No PPC used and it was a fairly competitive niche (new year's eve parties).

Don't give up

Something has got to be wrong with me. I have been trying various things for about 2 years and still havn't achieved what I would call success.
You are not alone, I've been at this for 7 months now and have a bunch of debt with virtually no sales. I'm not giving up though, but I am taking what I call a learning breather. Well, I'm too broke to do anything else right now.

For every success story there are many failures. Not everyones defines profitable the same way.

Since you started what?

It took me longer than two weeks to get everything together, web site, content, yada yada. If you can create a site and within 2 weeks, and be profitable you should be a mentor.:Yahoo_29:

Think it depends a lot on what you consider an actual starting point. Your first search for "make money online" or the start of your first SEO/PPC campaign.

I think that's a good distinction. I first added CJ banner ads to my blog two years back--no sales. I went from there to a very brief experiment with landing pages and PPC -- no sales, but I only spent 20 bucks. I wanted to get more into AM at the time, but I had bigger ideas.

I began a startup with my friend and ran CJ banner and text ads on that -- 1 sale, for $18.00! That was after thousands of impressions. The startup is being abandoned now, so I'm back to my blog and to PPC.

As part of the startup, I had to develop a landing page (33% conversion) and developed a PPC campaign that ended up in that yellow "sponsored links" bar with a nifty quality score. I learned about conversion tracking, broad, phrase and exact searches, etc.

That's gotten me to be just [strike]stupid[/strike] bold enough to try PPC again. I guess overall I'm only $2 in the red, so why not? :-) It seems like some work, but I understand enough that if I give the right pitch to the right niche, I think I'll do rather well.

I started affiliate marketing around...Dec of 07..and didnt really got into anything. didnt know wtf i was doing..brought a couple of domains and started writing. And my traffic was 0. Then i quit for 3 months. Got back to work around March of 08, and it really started flying. Just in April alone i made about 5k profit..so as it accumlates it comes to now.

While not a noob to websites and a bit of SEO, I am/was a complete noob to CPA affiliate stuff. I joined up with Advaliant at the end of July, did a lot of reading on here (thanks to all), and played about a bit making some half-decent landing pages for the offers that stood out to me. Created a PPC campaign on YSM, and banner display on google.

Very tightly focused keyword list in a crowded niche, and took the plunge. First couple of days not that great, but I let it run...and last week had my first ever $1k+ week - on course for the same again this week. Around 8-10% conversions consistently, 100%+ ROI.

Probably some luck as well as judgement but just shows, it can be done! It may not last, but I'm enjoying it while it does. The hard part I guess, is going to be replicating it with other offers, but at least I can see the principles/logic from what I've just done.
