So what's your opinion on the length of domain names? Is it better to have more keywords in the domain name?

What is the maximum amount of words you use? Three? Four?

Noticed something interesting over at MSN the other day.. seems like they nuked all the domains with any more than one dash. Anyone else seeing that?

No, at least not yet

I have a domain with a number of hyphens an it is still no 2 on their serps (this is MSN UK) for the most related search term. No 4 is also a 2 hyphen domain

The domain is not too spammy ,IMO, ie not like buy-this-product-now-or-you-will-die-a-slow-and-horrible-death.com, but more like car-auto-parts.com

I dont know if they could apply a type of sentance restriction?

If your domain can easily be spread through word-of-mouth you'll be okay. Basically the more keywords the better, but you want to have a name that is easy to say and use.

I bought bl6g.com thinking a few different things:
It's short.
I can makret it by making the loop in the 6 be the "o" for blog in the logo and people will remember it.

But, try saying bl6g.com. It's ugly. It doesn't really work. I would say try to stay under 20 chars or so :)

indeed. My domains with one dash are doing better than ever though, probably because they nuked the spammers out of my niches. :D
