right now, getting a ph.d in physics - could be changing soon though to another ph.d program

just wondering, what are/were your plans with that degree? My advice is not to go into academics or research. For my whole life, my dad was a researcher at Argonne National lab, same as you, phd in physics, and he says it became the most retarded, pointless, and corrupt practice he has ever seen.

Because of our background and where he works, we are around a lot of accomplished physicists and even within them, maybe 2% do valuable research and do it for the actual science. The rest is just a game. People publish 10 times more articles than humanly possible, just to gain rep and acknowledgement. But more importatly grant money. No one reads each others work because there is so much bullshit published daily. This leads to duplication of the same work. People ripping each others work and getting into bitch fights about it. and what's the worst is when you look back at it and realize that it has made absolutely NO fucking difference in the world. That's why my dad recently just said fuck physics and went to work in some finance company making some kind of insane mathematical models.

Full-time undergrad with about a year left. I am getting my degree in Economics and from there I have no clue what I want to do. I went back to school after I started AM mostly as a backup. Never hurts to have too much of an education and skills in the workplace if needed.

after graduating from High School I did not go onto College I might attend college later in Australia or Europe later as it's a great opportunity to meet new people and learn new things.

Three of my housemates are in their final year of economics degree, they all want boring 9-5 jobs in big London companies on static salaries ..

They don't know the internet!

I work a web design job and attend college full-time.
I have some time for AM.

I am debating on getting a CS degree...isn't this shit going to be outsourced?

Just programming. There's still loads of careers open to CS, like security, networking (neither of these can be outsourced obv.) and then the really good shit like project management and software engineering which pay pretty nice...

I'm currently a senior in high school doing AM part time/full time depending on my workload.

I'll be going to college next year, most likely to Carnegie Mellon for a degree in Computer Science.

Time has never been an issue for me. School is way too easy, and all of the boring AM work is outsourced, or done by Ubot.

hit me up, dude. im also applying to CMU. not my first choice, but i would be down. are you already in?

This is why I'm considering switching to Electrical Engineering, so I can actually do applicable things, and apply the science. I wanted to go into research (I think), but the idealized concept of research wore off on me. I was thinking of wall street in quantitative analysis, but dunno. EE has more practical application...and more job prospects (in case this business thing doesn't work out ahah).

Hey guys, I am also a full time student at a major Canadian university pursuing a bachelors degree in Business Admin. I think it is very possible to make earnings off internet marketing while being a student. It all comes down to time management, which is probably one of the most important skills to have in university.

I am going into my Sophomore year, I've been on Academic Probation since the 3rd week of my freshman year. My goal is to have a 3.0 CPA for this year, but working full time AM + School + Sleep + Social Time = a very difficult task. ahah

- Sleep
- Study
- Socialize

Pick 2.

This is a lil off topic but still somewhat relevant. I was on Justin Dupre's website the other day and I saw an ad for a Internet Merketing Certificate from the University of San Fransisco. I know that I don't need it for AM but I was wondering what you guys thought about something like that. It's an 8 week course and I figured that if all else failed it could maybe help me get a job with a company somewhere. I don't know, just a thought.

I got a BS in International Business and Marketing from a prestigious school, and trust me, a certificate won't get you far. It might help an otherwise empty resume, but you're not going to get a job from an eight week course.

It might however help you online marketing skills, as most of the topics are probably directly transferable to what we do here.

went to college, double majored, graduated with honors.

waste of fucking time.

i'm not saying the college experience was - i'm saying that beyond subject matter expertise college will give you the tools you need to think critically, comprehend information, and make decisions.

if i had it to do over again, i would gladly trade in my GPA and honorary shit for some more vageeen and parties.

Went to college, dropped out, started my first software company, bought two houses, a few cars, no debt, started second software company. School helps if you want to work for someone else, otherwise find your own way.

I'm kind of a "no program" student. I've got my Bachelors but I'm still studying for the hell of it.

I have an engineering degree but I don't know what to do with it. My sponsor spent a fortune on it so that I can contribute and now I sit at home working on IM. LOL. As long as I pay my taxes I guess. haha

so nobody hear has ever studied or is planning to study marketing in any capacity? Besides reading, etc.? I find that interesting..
