Just wondering why some sites that are pretty legit get blocked at my office, and why others don't.

Do the firewalls look for certain keywords, etc? Or is there some service they subscribe to that tells them which sites are ok for work or not?

I can't get on a yahoo forum, but I can get on here and other forums - some social sites are blocked, while other aren't. Of course almost every game site is blocked...

my office blocks sites too, i even tried all that proxy stuff, n' that doesnt work for me.

i can sometimes get around to seeing pages that are blocked, like for instance, if you do a search and then click on a link and its blocked...i just click on the 'cached' version of the site in google search. it maynot be the same but i'm still able to find the info i'm looking for.

hotmail is blocked here, but i found that if you just got to msn.com look to the left and you'll see "My MSN" click that, then click "HOTMAIL" at the top of the page and you're in. I dont know why but that seems to work for me.
