Just for fun I started this satire blog a couple weeks ago (it would be best not to visit if you're prude about your religion):
Blog of the Gods
Now I'm getting hundreds of uniques a day pretty steadily, I'd like to start making a few bucks off it. Contextual ads are out of the question, since the AdSense bot doesn't get sarcasm yet. Text Link Ads might be decent, since I've got a disproportionately high Alexa rank, but I think I couldn't get it accepted until Google updates their PageRank numbers. And even if I get in it's just a couple bucks a day. I could start up a CafePress store and sell t-shirts based on some of the articles/quotes, since religious mockery seems to be a popular t-shirt niche. But none of these ideas seem very promising.
I wonder if there's some way to monetize it with affiliate offers. I could push liberal/atheist/humor books on Amazon, but the conversion rate would suck and the payout is like $1-2.00 a book. Nothing I've seen on the CPA networks strikes me as ideal. I could look for individual atheist site affiliate programs, like one or two dating sites, but those sites seem pretty small. Would it be better to push big sites, maybe dating/ringtones, with links like "meet other atheists blah blah" leading to the main Match.com page?
Anyone else have experience or advice trying to monetize such a non-product-related site?
