Have these guys made it over the pond yet? Like Pink Floyd, they are one of the few bands that can make great music with lyrics that really say something.

If you've not heard of them or seen the vids and like thought-provoking music I really recommend checking them out.

Just watched the video for Bombs - powerful stuff:

These guys are fuckin great live too - definitely go see em if you get chance.

If you like any sort of dance/electronica/house etc, then youve heard at least god is a dj and Insomnia, which was their first breakout single. they still throw that in a mix here and there at clubs here in northern California that lead hook @ 1:16 on insomnia will always make me drop my drink and go dance.

that lead hook @ 1:16 on insomnia will always make me drop my drink and go dance.
same for me

I wouldn't say comparable to pink floyd just because they're not comparable at all...different genres etc, by the way faithless are for sure one of the big names in the whole electronic scene
I remember god is a dj was released when I was in high school, around 1997-1998 probably
by the way I don't like their hip-hopish component, I don't like hip-hop at all

not a big fan of techno music, but I like this song lol

They started off well and some of their later songs have been great, but they ad a little patch in the middle where they started going a bit girly for me. I saw them live at Creamfields and to be honest I wasn't impressed (this was during their girly phase). I'd love to go and see them if they were doing their earlier stuff (and I still listen to that a lot).

The Pink Floyd comparison was because both bands write excellent music - generally well structured, multi-layered and a combination of electronic and guitars. Both make a point of having meaningful, often political lyrics. They are obviously very different, but do have similarities.

It also seems to me that Roger Waters and Maxi Jazz share the same view point - listen to bombs or mass destruction - especially mass destruction with references to the storyteller's dad:

My dad came into my room, holdin his hat
I knew he was leavin', he sat
on my bed, told me some facts,
son

I have a duty, callin on me
You and your sister be
brave my little soldier,
and don't forget all i told ya
Your the mister of the house now remember this
And when you wake up in the morning give ya momma a kiss,
then I had to say goodbye

In the morning i woke momma with a kiss on each eyelid,
Even though im only a kid,
certain things can't be hid
Momma grabbed me, held me like i was made of gold,
but left her in the story untold
I said, momma it will be allright,
when daddy comes home, tonight

RW could've written that. He certainly often refers to the same subject (although for him it is autobiographical).

Just my thoughts though... I fuckin love them both!

I agree with Sleepylee
At times they were too girly for me...
