While my reader numbers weren't huge, each person is required to spend hunreds or in a lot of cases thousands of dollars in health products to recover.

It was for a niche health problem that i unfortunately had. I became a bit of a leader in my field, i guess you could say. As i slowly recovered, i wanted less and less to do with my problem , so i let my domain expire.

I'm now wanting to start a new blog. And my question is to you guys.. What is the best free blog template for me to use. I plan to give new info to my old audience ( still have a databse of emails etc). I also plan to have a secondary online health store selling selct products for the problem. I'm wondering if buidling a blog and filtering the traffic towards the secondary shop is the way to go. Any ideas for other ways to monetise my blog etc? Is there potential to make a dollar and help my audince at the same time. I dont want to alienate my readers by any means, as this problem is a rough one to deal with.. Any help is welcomed. Thank you..
 


If want to go with a blogging platform like Tumblr like you mentioned in your other thread, you won't have the same freedom you will have if you have your own domain and hosting. However, if you prefer to go that route that's fine.

If it is just the perceived cost of making your own site, if you are willing to learn (and it's not that hard) you can buy a domain name for around $10 (yearly payment) and hosting for probably around $10 a month if you site isn't highly popular.

Not trying to talk you out of using a blogging platform like Tumbler, just not sure what restrictions will go with that...

Can i have higlighted in hyper links in my blog posts, which if clicked on, can send me to my shop to purchase products. Is this a good idea?

I will probably go with a wordpress template i think. I'm not so much wanting to get a million readers. Targeting my very small niche field is all i require..
 
What are the main benefits of tumblr. I see it as being more for hipsters? And it seems to me the readers arent so loyal, but are just passing quickly by your tumblr site?
 
Ok, I don't know anything about Tumblr. But if you have a domain name you will need some hosting and I definitely do NOT recommend Godaddy for hosting. Ideally look for hosting with Cpanel - it will make installing your blog software very easy. Have you looked into hosting yet?
 
No havent looked into hosting yet. I thought if i use say wordpress, the hosting is free and i can divert to my paid domain name??

You could get a hostgator hosting account for .01$. Just Google around for the coupon code. That should help you gain more freedom with your blog.
 
Yeah, if you really don't want to purchase a real hosting account, you can attach your domain to Tumblr, a wordpress.com blog, etc. All those services offer pretty good instructions for doing that.
 
25k visitors per year its not big traffic. I own many websites with similar traffic and they make just few bucks per week.
