The bear that killed him was not from around there and it was mating season. He had always kept his proper distance from the bears in that area, though.

The guy had saved a lot of the local bears from poachers.

This guy has many bears that live on his property. Well, at least at one time. I'm not sure if he still does.

Yeah, from what I understand he had his usual bears that he hung out with but there was a new rogue bear that entered the scene and ate him as well as his GF iirc

Even though Brutus was more or less raised from birth and appears to be completely domesticated, you never know. It'd be like raising a really big wild dog or wolf I guess. I'm sure he has more than a few peculiar behaviors that other fully domesticated animals don't share.
