I remember when this first happened. Everyone here was pisssssed with the cops/courts. Had no clue it dragged on this long and now this.

PS: Don't leave broken glass under your window, if a thief breaks in and cuts themselves they can sue you.

That's why if a thief breaks into your house and you decide to protect yourself, they better die or you'll end up paying their medical bills and whatever else their lawyers decide to take you for.
 
Does the justice system want people to treat the thieves with respect? Maybe you should start welcoming thieves. Have a flashing sign outside your house, "Thieves Welcome"
 
I've had cops and attorneys alike warn me flat out, that if you shoot someone coming into your house, and they are still moving, shoot them AGAIN.

Make sure they are dead- it's FAR less hassle that way.

And if they are only part way in, pull them all the WAY in before you call and say they crawled at you with their weapon.

If they don't HAVE a weapon? LOAN THEM ONE ;)
 
I'm in Alabama and heard the same many years ago. Nowadays we can shoot someone outside stealing a bike. Finally we got a hold of some elected officials that listened to the people !

It use to be that you had to prove that you feared for you life and was in a back room. No longer that roadblock. Wanna be gangstas and home invasion changed it all.

Bad enough they even charged this guy but the real fucked up part is the fact that they offered a deal to the thief to testify against the shop owner. Somehow the shop owner is a bigger criminal that they actually cut a deal with the real criminal to take him down. WTF!!
