if you own a network and see someone running a campaign or media buy..

1. don't try to contact them through whois so you can get them to switch networks to yours.
2. don't send from a free service email address but have a company signature with no company domain and just a phone number.
3. what makes you think I'm gonna switch from a network that pays me every week or even twice a week for the security of knowing I'm going direct and getting 3 bucks extra a lead but on a net 15 or 20 term?
4. I don't want to deal with someone I never heard of I'm quite comfortable where I am right now.


I have gotten I shit you not 10 emails from people doing this trying to get my traffic this past week.
 


i usually get emails from the ad networks personally, which is actually semi-appreciated (more traffic more monies right?) although sometimes reveals them to be totally retarded.

yeah affiliate networks/merchants spamming for you jump would be annoying

It doesn't bother me. You're right about payment terms though, if you don't do weeklies I won't bother with you.
 
I disagree with #1, but I agree on the others. If you're reputable, I really don't care if you snooped well enough & contact me with a better offer - gives me leverage with my current network. For $3 on a biz opp (as an example), I dont know of any network that would rather ditch my traffic than give me an extra $2 or $3 per lead.

Also, it's not only whois that can give you away. I'll keep my mouth shut though - if you don't know the other methods of finding who owns a domain, then I'm not giving you any help.
 
There should be nothing wrong with them contacting you. However have no contact details etc is pretty poor.

Also, lots use gmail as their email due to inboxing. It's a lot harder to send from their own email server and have it not goto your bulk folder.
 
We dont spam a WHOIS. We use the contact forms on the page but my guys dont go that far. If the contact forms happen to bounce back, so be it.

As for not liking it, sorry to say fellas that most of the networks have specific people or teams designed to recruit affiliates and this is a main tactic. And most of the networks read this board and they know you dont like it.

Yet, more and more threads related to this are created each day.....
