I try to stay diverse with my sites to keep the footprint small, so I'm always looking for new stuff. I looked at PyroCMS about 6 months ago and thought in a couple years it might be good.

Looking at it over the last month or so, I'm impressed at how it's coming along. It was started by some people who were active in the CodeIgniter community, so this CMS is built on CI; and if you know CI, you can get up to speed on it in a day or 2.

I'm porting some themes from WP to Pyro and so far, pretty slick, once I got used to the directory structure.

I love CI but I haven't seen any decent CMSs out for it. Pyro looked promising so I checked it out.

It's loaded with a lot of good features, the one thing that bugs me is the use of ExpressionEngine-style template tags with curly braces. I'd prefer to use php logic and variables rather than trying to shoehorn my templates into a one-off tagging language. Other than that, looks promising.

It is just as good? Wordpress can do pretty much anything now that there are themes to modify it however you want and it's universal, but I still might give this one a shot.
