Importance of a Landing Page?

So, I just started Affiliate Marketing and have a couple hundred dollars to invest. I started running two campaigns on google for health/beauty products. I received most of my clicks through their content search network, but no conversions. One of the things I started doing because I am new is that I linked directly from the click to the offer. I didn't have much landing page experience, so I wanted to try my luck without one. It just seemed like an extra step that the user would have to go through to do the offer. But like I said, I didn't receive any conversions, so is the main reason because I don't have a landing page?

Nice guys, posting the hurrdurr graph in response to a semi legit question in the newbie forum.

yeah he probably just found 4chan and now thinks its cool to post unfunny pictures everywhere...

@OP
the main idea of a landing page is preselling... if the direct linked page sucks in bringing the visitor in a buying mood you should make a landing page with a good sales copy

how good your traffic converts depends on how targeted your clicks are... you can easily get 1k clicks a day without a conversion if its not targeted traffic

YA DOOD

I think we should regurgitate information that can be easily found by searching and/or reading.

Once again,

HURRR DURRRRR

I think it depends on what you're selling. If you're selling crap like half this industry is, then you're going to need a damn good LP to distract them and confuse them.

I mean, to presell them.

Okay, while I can appreciate sarcasm, this 4chan style of replying with unhelpful images is like half the shit I see from matt. Also when it's unfunny, it can be considered borderline trolling.

God, I fucking hate 4chan.

Like it's been said earlier, a LP is to PRESELL, get them in the mood to pull the credit card out.

say your ad catches their eye, they go straight to the site..ummm,not ready to buy

say your ad catches their eye, they go to the LP, the LP shows all the benefits of the product (stroking them, right), they're in the buying mindset, you got your call of action, BAM!, they hook, line, and sinker.

they again what do I know. im new at this. lol
