I need to form a corporation in the EU to be able to apply for merchant accounts to do payment processing. Does anyone have feedback on which country or countries are best to do this sort of thing while incurring the least tax liability there?

Incorporated in Ireland. I wouldn't change residency though. The entire country will be bankrupt in 2 years. (ref:NAMA)

^ lol - starting to look that way!

Any UK based merchant account providers that include payment processing front ends that any of the UK / Ireland guys here use and recommend.

I'm looking at Netbanx for both functions.

Thanks for the tips fellas. We were looking at Cyprus as a strong candidate but it looks like we might be going with Panama now. If the incorporation and merchant account goes smoothly I will post back here and in the various merchant account threads who to contact.

Jersey might be worth looking at. Looks like it still has 0% corporation tax, and you can easily find companies to handle your incorporation there.

Isle of Man, not in the EU but Internet business is serious business there.

0% Corparation tax
18% income tax capped at £100k

Fatbat, as an ex in the gaming biz I thought Antigua would be your first choice. :-)

Look on the bright side, you can write off the entire trip, spend 1 day with a lawyer and a bank, 4 days on white stand and blue water. I incorporate companies there just for an excuse to vacation.

Didn't really think about it to be honest. I'm looking first and foremost to who can provide me with merchant account(s) with the incorporation a second based on their criteria.

Cyprus might still be on the books if a UK payment processor comes through as well, as I'll then need an EU incorporation too.

I used to do some banner design work back in the mid-late 90s for a fellow that ran a sports book in Antigua, who paid especially well at $150 a banner, but I've never been. Had some associates go down there for a meeting with said sportsbook owner and they were bored to tears by the place, but I'm guessing it's all about the state of mind you are in.

^ doesn't that make it pointless/illegal to own an offshore company for tax reasons?

If you read what you linked to you'll see there are certain advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on where you're from, where you're living, how many people are partners in the company, and how you are moving your money around.
