info domains

doesn't affect seo at all. .com is more memorable so people get .com's instead.

.Com is King - .info is for desposable throwaway sites

But that doesn't mean you can't use .info. Many people consider .info as spam sites. But not everyone does. Sometimes I can get at least 11 .info domains (@.60 each) for the price of one .com.

I mostly use .info for ppc > am. This past Christmas I did very well with using .info's. I would buy for example golfgifts.info or christmasgifts.info. I would setup 1 page affiliate sites with them (cookie cutter) or dynamic storefronts. Throw traffic at them using msn, looksmart, ask, adwords (mostly all free due to coupons).
People would click and go to the affiliate company, they bought and I got paid. Many .info's didn't convert. But a great deal of others did. Those that did, I transfered them to a more reliable hosting company and will keep them. And spruce up and redo the sites. I might even go after the .com if I can get it.
Those that didn't convert, I just let them expire.

As a matter of fact, in some cases .info would have worked a little better than a .com. Here's my logic. A savvy internet user would stay clear of a .info. Thus they won't come to my site (not click on my ppc ad) and not do anything because they know it's an affiliate site. Whereas a noob doesn't know better and will still click on my affiliate links and buy from my affiliate company.

But again, .com is king. But you could make money with .info still. But just understand it's basically to test a niche and be prepared to dispose of them.

I'm with Voodooman here..
The majority of average surfers don't associate .info with spam / crap sites. They just care about what product or whatever they are searching for. So I also use a lot of .infos for testing out both arbi and ppc->am. If a site turns out really good and you want to make it look more professional, you can always get a .com for it later.

As far as SEO, domain type doesn't matter. But if you're using Country TLDs (like .co.uk), it can have an effect on your ranking in that country's listings.

Have to agree with Imagesandwords. I honestly have a few .info site's and nothing is associated with spam by my users. I think if you can find a very high quality domain on .info for only like $2.98 then take it.
