Internet Privacy - Lower paying job to work on my business - lots of time

I took a lower paying job to work on my IM business. Now I have tons of time to work on my business at this new job , I'm stuck in the basement of a hotel for much of the day.

I have my own wireless services but recently the hotel has introduced free wireless Internet for Hotel guests which I've been using. My question is there any way that management can catch me using the free wifi for my personal Internet use? given that there hotel guest are also using this wifi free Internet.

I could try hiding my IP address but I don't want to do that. any thoughts,

Yes. If you are using their computers, doubly yes. VPN bro, that's a way to safe guard the data going through the tubes.

But you still have the problem that they might have screen sharing on your computer if you are using their equipment. They can simply login and watch what you are doing without you even knowing realizing it. I can do that to any of my employees whether on a Mac or PC, since we setup the admin user on the computers.

It really depends on the sophistication of the system administrator of the Hotel. If the guy seems like a know it all Dickhead/tattletale then most likely he is going to be monitoring known company computers.​

Thanks for quick info, As far as I'm aware employee monitoring software only works if installed in the PC to monitor. I have my own Chromebook.

Monitoring software is just a tool that makes it easier for the company to lock down computers at the OS level. For instance, it can offer features like allowing the company's IT team to see your screen or prevent you from installing software.

But it's irrelevant here because the real issue is that the company's network sits between you and the internet. All they have to do is look at the data flowing through their network to deduce what you do with their broadband.

So what you do is tunnel your data through a server you trust and that server will forward the requests on your behalf. The company only gets to see gibberish. You can do it with a cheap VPS box, a random proxy you find off the internet (slow), or through a VPN service.

Another solution is to just connect through another network. For instance, the easiest solution would be to use your phone as a 3g/4g hotspot and connect your computer to it. The company obviously has no access to the data you send over the mobile network unless they've subscribed to the NSA Platinum Plan.
